If you are a new visitor to this website, new to Abbots Cross Presbyterian Church, new to the local area, or new to what it means to believe and follow Jesus, then we want to welcome you.

Come and see for yourself

One of the best ways to find out more about who we are and what we do, is to come and see for yourself. We would love to see you join us on a Sunday morning at 11am.

When you arrive at church, you will be greeted at the front door by some of our church members.  You're welcome to go ahead into the main area of the church - feel free to sit wherever you like.  Church members generally sit in similar areas of the church each week, but do not have specific seats.

We sing using a combination of contemporary and traditional songs with various instruments to accompany.  There is no dress code and you will not be expected to give money or join in the singing if you don't want to.

A creche is available for pre-school children.  Children of primary school age leave after about 30 minutes of the Sunday morning service to go to Minizone or KidZone. For young people in their early teens, every two weeks they can leave during the service to go to TeenZone.

The evening services are similar, although there is no creche facility available.  We meet in the Magill Hall (to the right of the main church building).  Evening services are quite informal and have a stronger teaching element.  We start at 6.30pm and finish around 7.30pm.

The services in the morning and evening following a familiar theme from week to week: you can expect a time of prayer and singing to God, as well as teaching from the Bible.  The minister will preach a sermon, talking to the church family about some aspect of the Bible, encouraging us to apply what God says to our everyday ordinary lives.

Common queries

Most people who visit a church for the first time are a little apprehensive.  With this in mind, here is some further information to help:

  • You can come along, take a seat, listen and leave quietly, if you choose.  You won't be asked to say or do anything.
  • You don't have to be religious or a Christian to come along.  If you have any sort of interest at all, then you are more than welcome to come and join with us.
  • There is no dress code.  Some people dress casually in jeans and t-shirts, some dress smart wearing suits or dresses.
  • A collection will be gathered during each service but this is more for the church family to contribute to.  Please do not feel under any obligation to give money.

Getting in touch

At any point, if you have any questions, then feel free to submit a Questions Form.  If you want to get in touch with us, then please feel free to submit a Contact Form, and someone will be in touch with you shortly.  The address of the church can be found under the Contact Us section, and a map is available on the How to find us page.

We really look forward to hearing from you, and to finding out more about how we can help, support and encourage you.

A final thought

God loves you simply because He has chosen to do so.  He loves you when you don't feel lovely.  He loves you when no one else loves you.  Others may abandon you, divorce you, and ignore you, but God will love you.  Always.  No matter what.

"I'll call nobodies and make them somebodies; I'll call the unloved and make them beloved."  (Romans 9:25)
