Abbots Cross Presbyterian Church

Special Olympics Club

This club began in January 2005 for people with learning disabilities.  We have over 30 special athletes attending, to play table tennis, badminton and a number of other indoor sports.  Some take their sport very seriously while others come just to socialise with their friends and the volunteers who run the club.   The club nights are every 2nd and 4th Tuesday in the month at 7.30 to 9.30 pm.  The athletes enter Special Olympic area and regional competitions and some have bee chosen to represent Ulster in the all-island games in Belfast, in June 2006.  In the autumn of 2005 the Abbots Cross club had a team in the European Table Tennis Competition in the Czech Republic.
